Here’s an Idea : Adobe Stage – Commonly Used Elements in InDesign

By kyle in Concept, Design

A while back I had an idea for a plugin or feature for the Adobe Creative Suite that would give you a tab full of the most commonly used elements.

I happened to be working in InDesign when I thought of it, but I can imagine it working well in Photoshop and Illustrator. Now that I think about it, Dreamweaver has what they call “Snippets” that are commonly used blocks of code that you can insert where you want them.

One Year With Instagram

By kyle in Photography, Video

I’ve been using Instagram for about a year now and I have loved capturing the past year with really awesome photos. Instagram is an excellent, free app for the iPhone that takes a normally mundane photo and spices it up with some pretty exceptional filters. On top of that, there is a social aspect, not unlike that of twitter.

This video is a collection of all the images over the past year according to my iPhone 4 and Instagram.

PHOTO : The Dirty Third Jewelry

By kyle in Photography

I’m a little late on this but I thought I would post it anyway. My good friend Myan Duong recently asked me to shoot some photos for her jewelry line. Naturally, I obliged. Here is my absolute favorite shot from the shoot.

Not too long after I shot these, however, the Dirty Third designers/owners decided to split ways and go in separate directions. Myan will soon be launching another line that I’m super pumped about. She’ll probably ask me to shoot those photos as well, and I will post them here…

REVIEW : Moo Business Cards

By kyle in Review

About.me recently offered 50 free business cards from Moo. If you don’t know either of the two, take a minute and check them out. So, what they did was take my about.me profile picture and put it on one side of the card. On the other side, I got to put the text I wanted and had the option to put a QR code that directs you to my about.me profile. Pretty slick.

Retro Apple Logo Macbook Pro Hack…

By kyle in Tech

Look what I did!

iColours Retro Apple Logo Macbook Pro Closeup

So I ordered a little piece of colored plastic from iColours and hacked my Macbook Pro to make it look like the retro Apple Logo.

Side Note : The original Graphic Designer that designed this logo did so a few years before the “Gay” movement and before the Rainbow was associated with this movement…

More photos after the break…

Review : BLURB books

By kyle in Design, Review

A photo portfolio made possible by Blurb.com

A few months ago I got an e-mail from a friend who works for the printing company who handles some of Blurb’s printing needs. She told me there would be a Groupon deal for $60  worth of Blurb printing for only $20 coming up soon. I had been wanting to try both Groupon and Blurb for a while, so  this was my chance.

Billboard Kayak Part 1

By kyle in Design, Kayak

As you may or may not know, my buddy tim tobola did a project his senior year in design school that involved a kayak made from recycled billboards. Well, he’s decided to pursue it further into something that can be put into production (an excellent choice) and he’s asked me to jump on board (pun intended? possibly) and help push the thing further. Check out some recent photos and an update on how we’re doing so far after the break…

Hello world!

By kyle in Life In General

So I’m back in the game. I’ve decided to start blogging again. I realized I need a central location for all the random things that I do, whether it’s design, photography, or my latest business venture. I’ve never been an exceptional writer nor one to just talk about my feelings. However, I can post things I’m working on and ask for feedback from you guys. We’ll see if I can keep it up this time…
